URBAIN V WAY – GR670

itinéraire touristique Foot Medium

Aubrac Causse de Sauveterre Causse Mejean

URBAIN V WAY connects four UNESCO World Heritage sites: from Nasbinals, the GR 65 towards Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle, then the Causses and Cévennes that we cross, the Pont du Gard and the pontifical city of Avignon. It is to the lozérien Guillaume de Grimoard (1309-1370), named pope in 1362 (and beatified in 1870) that this new path is dedicated. From Aubrac to Avignon, it runs for 329 km, of which about 189 in Lozère. We will not miss Monastier (where he was ordained a priest in 1334), the heart of Mende, Notre-Dame Bridge, Notre-Dame cathedral and the Saint-Privat hermitage ... and en route Quézac, Florac, Grizac and his castle (birthplace of Guillaume), Saint-Germain-de-Calberte (where he created the first seminary), before arriving in the Gard. You will find on the site of the path the routes and elevations, the hiking book, the list of accommodation and many other practical information.
